Kuttanadu, the beautiful backwater of Kerala, which is blessed with fields, rivers and water is at times threatened by floods thus the constent occurrence of flood has becomes a part and parcel of Kuttanadu. The Kuttanadu which we see today was quiet different half a century ago. Expertised medical facilities were not available to the people of Kuttanadu. If they want expert treatment they had to travel to distant places, spending a lot of money. Majority of them were struggled by financial difficulties. The parents of Rev. Msgr.James Parappally who is a native of Edathua also had to undergo much difficulties like this. Fr. James's loving father died even without getting necessary medical facility. His death caused a great wound in Fr.'s heart on that day. The Mahajubilee hospital is the realization of his strong desire and inspiration that sprung up in his heart. He vowed that none should die without getting medical facility in this Kuttanadu area. For that he dedicated his time, effort and money. For the fulfillment of his long cherished desire he brought 2.37 acre land and leveled it and started construction. This place is located near one of the oldest and holy pilgrim church Edathua. It can be reached through Alappey (NH47) National Highway, Ambalapuzha-Thakazhy Road, AC Road through Thiruvalla to Edathua. For the smooth functioning of the hospital Rev. Father decided according to his free-will to hand over the place and building to the Sisters of the Adoration of the Blessed Sacraments with the permission and blessing of Mar Joseph Powathil ,Archbishop of Changanacherry. According to that everything was written and given in the name of mother Rosekate the provincial superior. A lions portion of 5 acres 900 cent land which was brought at different times was leveled and on 03.03.2000 the inauguration of the project was done. That day onwards the preparation for the construction of the building was started.
Considering the nature of land here the pile foundation work was started. The construction was done in such a way that the foundation was laid on an underground rock strong enough to construct an eight storcy building. Mr.James Grigory Thycherry was the contractor of this building. The foundation stone of the hospital was laid on 16.08.2000 by Rev. Fr. Thomas Kannampallil, the Forane vicar of St.George Forane Church Edathua.
The blessing of the 1st building was done on 16th august 2000 by His grace mar Joseph Powathil.Inaguration was done by Dr.K.C.Joseph the MLA of Kuttanadu.
The OP section was started functioning with the prayer of Provincial superior mother Rosekate at 9.30 am on 24th December 2001 thus the long cherished dream of Rev. Fr.James Parappallil was fulfilled. A chapel also came to existance along with other departments of the hospital on 25.02.2002.
The major departments here are as follows.
All these departments are functioning very effectively.
